Meet Andy

Andy Vargas-Hernandez is Co-Founder and General Partner of NBV, a firm investing across the Southwestern and Mountain United States and Latin America corridor. His work sits at the intersection of frontier technology, cross-border capital, and the communities that both often overlook.

He helps train some of the world's top AI labs and brings that same cross-border perspective to his investment work, backing founders and ideas in geographies that institutional capital has historically underestimated.

His civic and leadership commitments reflect an equal investment in people. Andy serves as Chair of the Mayor's Young Leaders Council in his hometown of El Paso, Texas and has served on the Renewable Energy Advisory Council for the City of El Paso.

Andy is a member of the Milken Young Leaders Circle and a Fellow of both the Aspen Institute and the U.S.–Japan Leadership Program. His contributions to the El Paso region have been recognized with a Congressional Recognition and an El Paso City Council Proclamation.

He holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA in Finance from St. Mary's University. He built his early career at Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Andeavor Corporation across enterprise technology, energy, capital markets, and strategy and operations. That experience continues to inform how he evaluates markets and builds organizations today.

Andy believes the Borderlands are experiencing a cultural and economic renaissance and has dedicated his career to accelerating it. Outside of work, he enjoys chess, biking, rowing, yoga, and time with family, including being a dog dad.
