Tech, Policy & Society at the Crossroads of the Americas

San Antonio, Texas, USA • Spring 2027 • Dates & Venues Announced Summer 2026

For nearly 500 years, the Borderlands have been a crossroads for ideas, trade, and culture — stretching from the Gulf to the Pacific, across ten states and two nations. Today, that spirit of convergence takes on new urgency as artificial intelligence reshapes the economies, infrastructure, and societies of this global corridor.

Borderlands AI brings together leaders from technology, business, government, academia, advocacy, media, and the arts to explore what AI means for the regions where two countries meet — and what the Borderlands can teach the world about navigating that future together.

Conference themes

  • The US-Mexico corridor is the world's busiest trading relationship. This track examines how AI is transforming advanced manufacturing, supply chains, ports of entry, nearshoring, and cross-border commerce.

  • The Borderlands have always been defined by human movement. This track explores how AI is reshaping migration policy, border enforcement, asylum processing, human rights discourse, and the lived experience of people in transit.

  • From cybersecurity to community safety, this track examines how AI is being deployed across the region's most complex challenges — and what responsible, human rights-centered implementation looks like in practice.

  • The Borderlands are home to some of the youngest and fastest-growing populations in North America. This track explores how AI can expand access, support bilingual learners, and empower the regional workforce to remedy longstanding disparities.

  • The US-Mexico border region is emerging as one of the hemisphere's most significant clean energy corridors, with abundant solar, wind, and critical mineral resources. This track explores how AI can accelerate the energy transition, improve grid resilience, and address water scarcity across our desert regions.

  • Binational health challenges demand cross-border solutions. This track explores how AI is transforming healthcare delivery, public health infrastructure, and medical research in a region defined by both stark disparity and remarkable innovation.

Why the Borderlands?

"The Borderlands have never been peripheral. For centuries, this corridor — from the Pacific Coast to the Gulf of Mexico, across ten states and two nations — has been a site of exchange between cultures, economies, and ideas. What happens in our vital region has always mattered far beyond any borders that divide it.

Artificial intelligence is arriving at a consequential moment in international affairs. Supply chains are being rewired, energy infrastructure rebuilt, and a new generation is leading the enterprises and the movements that will define the continent for decades to come. Our region is not waiting to be discovered — it is already leading.

Borderlands AI exists to make that case — engaging the leaders, founders, and builders pioneering that future through meaningful dialogue that benefits the communities of the Borderlands. San Antonio is where that work begins."
